About Me… (Sonia)
I earned my Masters Social Work (MSW) with a Clinical Social Work Specialization degree from Rutgers University and a Bachelors in Arts degree in Social Cultural Anthropology from CSU East Bay. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I am a member of the National Federation of State High School Associations and Clinical/Counseling Sport Psychology Association.
I decided to focus on athletes because I recognized that there was an immense need and opportunity for support. They are a unique population who experience a tremendous amount of pressure and expectation from their families, schools and communities. Additionally, I continue to work toward breaking the stigma of mental health support and will advocate for athletes of all ages to seek intervention.
